What is a doula?
A doula is someone who is trained and experienced in prenatal, labor/birth, and postpartum support. Doulas provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and after childbirth. A doula believes that childbirth is a natural, normal, and healthy process in a woman's life and that, when properly supported, can be an incredibly empowering experience for new mothers.
Doulas support mothers in all types of birth from home to hospital, natural to elective caesarians, and believe in each mother's right to chose how and where she brings her baby into the world.
